In a poker tournament, ante off is a move that is used to force a player who is absent to keep paying blinds, antes, bring-ins, including a host of other forced bets. This is usually done in order that the contest will plain and indeed fair to the other poker players. There are various ways to tell a player that s/he would have to face and “ante off” because of some other acts s/he committed. Some of the common ones can be said plainly to another player.
For example, an action by a player can generate a counter action with an “ante off” warning. For example, a player who wants to disrupt the course of the game with a distraction like a phone call may be told by the rest of the players, ” You can pick up your phone call but be sure that we shall surely “ante off” your play until you are fully back to the game.
