The term “calling station” is always used to refer to players who love to call too often when playing poker games. A common feature of such players is that they would call a lot but do not match the calls with raises or folds as would be expected of them. Players who are calling stations are those deemed to be weak poker players and most times, these type of players don’t like to take advantage of what they have with holding a good hand so they are seen as passive.
A calling station’s major preoccupation is to keep the game flowing with lots of calls and less raises. Poker players like to have to have calling stations in their games because the latter often like to pay off their opponents who have better hands. Calling stations may make unlikely draws and backdoors than their opponents so playing with them could be annoying and they just can’t be bluffed especially in a communal game. A lot of the players in yesterday’s poker tournaments were very fierce with their playing style but it turned out to be very interesting because they had more than three calling stations present.”
