A cap game in poker has a meaning that is similar to the term “cap” which was described above. However, a cap game is used to talk about a game of poker that has a pot limit or zero limit play. This kind of game has a cap fixed to the amount of times a poker player can be able to bet with a hand in the course of the game. With each bet placed into the pot, a player has to be mindful of the amount s/he is sticking out to bet otherwise a call may be made.
Once a game gets to the cap or limit set, the rest of the players that are left with a hand are counted as all-in. A cap game or pot limit game of poker can be entered into with different amounts of wagers placed by the various players. But the game can be fixed a bet cap of multiple times a big blind. Cap games can work in a player’s favor but anyone who is new to poker may require more skills to be able to give other players a good run for their money.
