A poker raid case in Colorado is likely to pave a new way for rewriting the laws of Colorado. A $20 Texas Hold’em tournament was raided and put in to trial. The authorities involved in the case were arguing over the legalities of poker and this argument is already well established in other states too.
Bomber Jim Vaughn was handcuffed in the raid. The All in Bombers were a team of 5 poker players who play poker twice weekly at Rafferty, a famous Greeley Watering Hole.
Rather than fighting against the charge, they spent $1000 or more each in fighting against the case. They could have escaped the jury by paying a penalty of $100 each, but they chose to fight against the case.
A number of poker players are increasingly looking to fight against poker being a game of chance. Constant number of cases is being fought to prove that poker is a game of skill.
Per Colorado Law, gaming is considered to be illegal gambling if the player pays money to participate in the game, followed by the outcome of the game being determined by chance; and eventually if there is a higher payout.
However, there are applicable exceptions to this law where none of the people participating in these games are not doing it for individual profit; Strange law!
Eventually, the charges versus the bombers were dismissed because the legal lines were not clearly defined to prove they have been gambling!
