Eric Woerth, The Finance Minister of France declared in a media report on Thursday that the bill that he has worked out for the legalization of Poker has some clauses with respect to legalizing online poker and gambling.Notably, Eric has authored a bill requiring legalization of the conventional Monopolistic French Gambling Industry to the ministers of the cabinet. The bill will be produced to the ministers before the end of March 2009 or in the beginning of April.
It is probably expected that the bill will be forwarded for vote in the senate and French parliament this summer. The declaration puts forth the requirement of a massive alteration in the Gambling policies in France. The gambling policies were traditionally dominated by two monopolies in the state; they were Francais des Jeux and Pari-Mutuel Urbain (PMU) respectively.
The details of the complete information of the bill was not clear in the declaration; however, he foresees a 2% tax on online poker and 7.5% for taxes in horse racing and sports betting. If this bill meets up with a majority, it is most likely for the bill to be executed in real time practice near January 1, 2010.
So, we can soon expect a legalized tax bound French online market. Notably, the member nations of Europe passed on information between each other about the trends in the gambling industry a few days back.
