The Australian Government has been updated with a detailed list of sites which will be blocked from access to the internet users. The aim of this blacklist was to eradicate child exploitation based content and photographs, but it has been noted that the blacklist also has a number of online poker sites in the numbers.
It is known that the blacklisted sites will be blocked by the Internet Service Providers of Australia. The shocking news is that a number of top famed poker sites like the Poker Stars, Full tilt Poker, Absolute Poker and William Hill are all included in the black listed list.
With the status of the black list leaked off, the Australian Communications and Media Authority has interrogated about the dependability of the list and the URLs included there in.
The purpose of creating the blacklist was to identify child abuse sites, but the poker sites are in no way related to the investigation and a question has been raised by Sen. Stephen Conroy on what makes them to be included in the list when the poker sites are not in anyway related to the subject involved in the complaint and the purpose of the blacklist.
The site which published the list has also been blocked from access, and it is expected that any site which links to it might also be blocked by the Australian ISPs. It is questionable if the government is seriously up in its way to block poker sites in Australia. This can pave way to poker allergic countries to follow the same path too! It is scary.
