The Atlantic City, of late experimented with automated dealers instead of live dealers. The plan did not work well and the management has planned to withdraw the automated tables and they are going to replace them with real dealers again.
The Trump Plaza and Casino in the Atlantic City tried to work out with automated poker games with machine dealers like in online casinos. They attempted this in an effort to cut out on dealer’s cost. And a number of real time dealers were in the fear of job cuts and massive layoffs.
The Trump Plaza management tried to have automated poker tables because they thought that young poker players will be happier and interested in playing in automated tables similar to online poker games; however, young players were not interested in this method where the electronic system will shuffle and deal out cards where the card will appear in a monitor in the center of the table and based on their strategy the player will have to make their bets, call or fold.
Players both young and old preferred a live dealer who makes the game more interesting than in dealing and playing with a machine. They felt that a live dealer and a live play is lot friendlier and preferred than a machine dealt game.
The player response was disappointing to the management; however, the dealers’ sighed relief and they are happy that players still need them and their service beyond technological innovations. A live dealer is still in-compensable despite higher end technologies.
