Famous online poker sites that have been allowing US residents to play in their sites are facing FBI seizure of their business domains.
Players who are visiting to Poker Stars, Full Tilt Poker, UB Poker and Absolute Poker are heading to get a seizure notice from the FBI.
This is not the first time. A similar seizure of Bodog Poker has occurred in the past where the domain owners had to work via the court to get the domain name back and working in shape.
It is interesting to note that the FBI seizure notice is not visible to all countries, only some players are seeing the seizure notice. The non-uniformity of the availability seizure notice has caused players to doubt the authenticity of these claims. Perhaps it has something to do with the DNS change. It is not a joke or a hacker incident, we might know with time and more news to come about the actual scenario explaining the news.
Famous news sources like Reuters and CNBC have reported that Fraud and Illegal Gambling charges against these online poker businesses and domain names. We will hope that if it is true that the sites would win back their domain names like Bodog.com
Interestingly Bodog continues to accept US players. Poker stars have redirected their domain name to point to pokerstars.eu and Fulltiltpoker have directed their domain name to point to fulltiltpoker.co.uk
The FBI attack on online poker sites has alarmed several other online poker sites who are not interested in legal issues to pull away from the US market. Some sites would continue to accept US players until May 1st and some sites would continue to serve already existing players, but would not accept newer registrations. Lots to come and we are to witness the bang on the poker sites serving US player base.
