Poker And Gambling Legislation Plans Of European Union Seems Hard

The United States is until now reluctant in working towards legalizing the online poker gaming world; however, the countries of the European Union are seen to be doing something about bringing integrity to the online poker system, but the approach is confused by difference in opinions between the countries.

There is a slight controversy within the European Union about regulating the online gaming and poker systems. Though regulation is agreeable by some of the member countries in the European Union, these countries have worked out plans to regulate poker to contribute to the economic benefit of their respective countries, gaining tax revenues in a way preventing leak of online poker gaming revenues.

When all these things are happening around, here is what Sigrid Ligné, The Secretary General of EGBA, has to say, “Today’s vote shows that we cannot expect an EU harmonized legislation to be adopted in the near future. It clearly means that it is the rules of the Treaty and the case law of the Court of Justice that continue to apply and that will prevail for our sector in the years to come”.

France, Sweden, Germany, Denmark and Spain are the member countries of the European Union who have taken a major role in integrating poker and gambling proceeds in a way to favor their national economies; however, some of such countries are going back in their approaches for fear of getting penalized by the European Union due to the Treaty of Commerce which all member nations have signed up for.

Spain is already working via a regulatory agency for legalizing poker gaming. Of late, France has declared that they will begin accepting legalization applications from 2010. Sweden will also be following the same. However, until every member of the European Union agrees on the approach, there are high probabilities for undesirable conditions in the poker gaming sector.
