The tremendous success of the Asian Poker Tour last year, has encouraged the coming up of the Asian Poker Tour for the year 2009. This year, the APT is being organized again in Manila. Undoubtedly, the APT is expected to magnetize top players and amateurs interested in poker to be a part of the show.
With an approximate estimation of $1 million in prize pool, there is an ongoing showcasing of poker skills since January 27, 2009 and it will be up until February 01, 2009 at Dusit Thani Hotel in Makati.
Nearly 800 or more players are participating in the various tourneys including poker superstars like David “Chino” Rheem, Quinn Do, and Nam Le. Several other Filipino players are also there in the list.
The main tourney is scheduled to be the No Limit Texas Hold’em game and it is expected to be played in 4 days.
The tourney starts with two flights marked 1A and 1B, and on the Day 2 and the Final Day, which will be in Sunday there are going to be big money prizes awaited by the winners.
For events which are walk-ins for other events where players are not going to be playing in the main event, the money games will be running on-site, along with other specific events like the PKR Headhunter Tourney and the Dafa Poker “PLO” which, while we’re on the subject, will be the first time ever to be organized in the Asian Poker Tour.
It is interesting to see that Omaha, which is popular in the European and North American poker players are gaining a follow up interest in Asia too.
