The rules of Razz poker are simple and straightforward. In this type of poker game, the player with the lowest hand is the winner of the pot. The rules of the game for Razz poker is somewhat similar to those of 7 Stud High.

The exception is in the fact that the high card is needed to place a forced bet during the 1st round of the game. In Razz Poker, Aces are played as lows with the low hand acting first on each of the subsequent betting round. Razz Poker does has no ranking for flushes and straights, therefore the player with the best hand possible is the one who has the “wheel” i.e. 5-4-3-2-1. Any open pair has no effect on the limit of bets. In this game, a player may use a combination of 7 cards dealt to them in order to assemble the best 5-card low hand.
Aces are most times lows while flushes and straights do not affect a hand’s low value. Therefore, A-2-3-4-5 is the lowest possible hand for this game. Razz has its own rules for forced bets as well. A 7-card Stud ante is usually played alongside an ante that is roughly a fifth of the size of a low limit bet. Also, each player is required to ante up before the start of a hand although it does not apply to bets that will later be placed. After the first deal when each person is showing a card, the player with the highest card has to “bring in.” This implies that they have to put the low limit bet size into the pot.
If more than one player shares the highest card, it means the player who is the closest to the left side of the dealer has to bring in. The bet is counted as the player’s 1st round bet as long. Thus, if no player raises, there won’t be any need to place additional money into the pot in order to be shown the next card. The betting rounds of Razz Poker are five. For fixed limit razz poker games, all the raises and bets are required to be the same as either the high or low limit bet sizes. In the 1st two rounds of a razz poker game, all the raises and bets have to be the same as the high limit bet size.
For instance, if a player is into a 3-6 Razz game, every bet placed in the 1st two rounds will be made in $3 increments; while every bet placed in the last 3 rounds will be in $6 increments. Only 3 raises maximum are allowed to be placed by a single player for every round of bets. Other rules of 7-card Stud apply to Razz poker games with only little differences. A forced bet is used to start action in Razz poker games and is placed with the highest card. On the other hand, the low hand is used to take the first act for all other subsequent rounds. In place of the low hand, the 1st player who is next to the dealer in a clockwise position is asked to start game action. A razz poker game dealer calls out all the pairs as they occur for the first time but not for face-card pairs which are not usually announced.
