Open your mind to new learning
Filed Under POKER SELF, poker tips“To open your mind to new learning, you first must open your mind.” This is why so many players become complacent and really stop growing in their game. They don’t want to open their minds. They are, in a very real sense, afraid to look within. They find it daunting, threatening, maybe even im-possible to face certain hard truths about themselves. The question of when and whether it’s appropriate not to play poker at all. This is a question that many poker players simply can’t address. They operate on the assumption that it’s always right ta play poker and that they’re never off their game. It’s an absurd assumption, of course, but one that habitual players make every day. They don’t want ta challenge the assumption and they wouldn’t have the self-awareness and honesty ta challenge it even if they wanted to.
Sa they stop growing and they stop learning; not because it has become hard ta acquire new information. Goodness knows there’s no shortage of new information. They stop learning because it has become hard to apply a new honesty ta themselves, and without that honesty, deeper understanding of the game becomes impossible. ..
