Poker tips and Bluffs

  1. Little bits of winning can mean a big money in no limit game. Build your stacks gradually by constantly hunting for situations where you will be stealing the pot if you are in the blinds with a raise. Even blind stealing is big in no limit games.
  2. Limit game bluffing is useless. In limit betting games many people in the table tend to be heads up until the showdown because the bets are affordable and once they have come until turn or river, they do not mind spending some extra in the showdown.
  3. Even the river fold can be profitable in no limit games. Betting tends to go aggressive in the no-limit turn and river and players simply fold if they cannot afford to play any more. The last bunch of money in bet can be a huge loss if you are playing with worthless hands
  4. Unless you know the viability of the opponent you cannot bluff. If you did not know that do some odds calculation about the number of better hands that can beat you and play accordingly; if you have read the board and made odds comparison that is even great.
  5. Self-confidence is the foundation for aggressive; however, over confidence is the key to depression. Critical features of aggressive betting should be based on logic and self-confidence, if the player is going to continue with aggression when the logics are not in favor, then it is loss.
  6. Do not play when you are under influence. It is okay if you are playing drunk with friend for fun and no money, but if you are doing that in a casino you are likely in danger of being stripped of all you have. Prevent all nasty big bets by not playing drunk.
  7. Bluffs do not work every time against all the people. It is high risk to bluff against a caller who does it through show down. They are going to call anything and all you do, especially when they are second best better fold or straight play, they will not fold.
  8. Do not hang on to playing. Let go the devil when you are dead. If you are trying to defend yourself by bluffs with worse hands just because you have put a lot of money.
  9. Play your bankroll and not beyond. If you are trying to play a single dollar beyond your bankroll, it means the compulsive gambling instinct is catching you up. It is a big warning sign. Stop playing if you cannot afford that extra dollar. Single-dollar temptation can turn multi-dollar temptation.
  10. Swings in high games are bigger than in low games. Play just low games if you cannot meet with the high limit challenges. High limit challenges are more risk than low limit ones. Check your tolerance and bankroll strength if you decide to play high. It either pays of breaks.
