Play poker within your comfortable limits. The first step in preparing for money based poker games is to decide on your bankroll. In many cases when making your bet, be sure that you are gambling with what you can actually afford to make.
- Do not bring in all your money to one table. The common error that any one can make in by messing up by investing all the bankroll in one table. It is unwise to invest all the money that one does have for overall poker gaming. Split the bankroll and use only a percentage for one table.
- If you are likely to tilt better fold. Tilt will not be unavoidable in all cases. If you feel that you are tilting then better not give a second thought, just get up and leave the poker table. Stop playing. Be back after a refreshing break. Breaks can work magic.
- Do not try play in a skill level of poker room that is not your cup of tea. All players do not perform well in all levels. Choose the levels of the opponent based on what you can tolerate; however, occasional play with high levels than you is the only way to improve.
- Short handed tables are easily manageable than multi-way pots. If you are playing in a short handed table you can work out fairly better odds than in a multi-way table when you are least sure on how many players are better than you. Cut short the table ASAP.
- Play less and earn more rather than playing more and earning less. The success with poker lies in a balanced bankroll where profit is more than loss. So, play selective starting hands and make decent profits. Wait for the best hand to come, and play that hand in the best possible way.
- The size of your bet is a kind of tell. When you make very high bets the opponent folds in fear. When you make very small bets, the opponent finds it is too easy to call. So, determine the size of bets based on the response that you will like to have.
- Muck your bluffs. If you are going to let others know that you were bluffing all this long, it will give them a clue to the kind of hands that you will choose to play, and the kind of tricks that you will make. So, never disclose your hands if you did bluff.
- Do not react too quickly. Do not react too late. Make the reaction time to be the same always. If you are going to be reacting the same all the time then others will not be able to judge your hands based on the response time of your actions.
- Make others believe that you are a loose player, but do not over do it. If you are going to over do it you will be losing a lot of money in proving yourself to be loose, to the extent that you will not be able to get that back easily by future wins.
