Poker tips of the day

There is no need to make a re-raise to the existing raise. If someone is going to make a raise, you need not re-raise it always. There can be some situations when the re-raise can make the situation more costly for you. Think of the consequence before you make the re-raise.

  1. Never call when you can bet with your good hand. You will not win in poker by calling. So, when you have a good hand in poker, consider making a bet or raise rather than calling. However, be sure that you have a good hand when you bet raise.
  2. Try to be the first person to take control of advantages in the table. When it is a good situation to be winning make the most out of it, and when the situation is bad get to fold. Remember you cannot be always winning in poker. Fold when you are in the dangerous side.
  3. Do not try to be too perfect in your strategies. The strategy that worked for best yesterday might turn out to be bad. Since it did not perform better once, do not try to rectify it; just learn that you have to apply it in the right place, rather than trying to be too perfect.
  4. Never connect your winning and losses too emotionally. Do not be too happy when you win and do not go too frustrated and depressed when you loose, but learn to be level headed on any kind of result you are likely to get. Be neutral and move on.
  5. Do not remember the losses more than victory. You need to have track of loss in poker and you need to rectify them, but you need to make sure that you are not over concerned about your loss in making panic-actions for even the best hands. Rectify the errors for a loss and forget it.
  6. Doing the right thing can lead to loss in poker at times. Poker is a game where you should position yourself to win even when you do not have minimum guarantee to win. You should accept the fact that the best moves every can still bring loss in poker.
  7. Books, seminars and CDs are good ways to learn poker, but experience in poker tops them all. It is good to have guidance from various resources of poker to improve on it; the best of all is to try it in actual real time games. Experience adds quality to learning.
  8. When you play tight people never think that you play only strong hands. First of all they are not bothered if you fold, some are happy the one more competition is out, only a very few figure out that you are waiting for the best starting hand.
  9. When you are not having a good hand someone else definitely has it. Good cards are there somewhere. So, never go aggressive in a situation where you have had a weak hand right from the beginning. Bluffs might be too dramatic if you attempt them, if there is a real winner.
