The Poker Game of the Week

Here’s an interesting variation of last weeks Game of the Week sent to us by “sydney”.

My friends and I have always played “Guts” at our home poker games. However, we have always played it as a three card game. Everything else you described is the same–no straights/flushes.

We also just hold our cards over the table, let the dealer count out “one, two, three, GUTS!!!”, and on the word “guts” we either hold or drop our cards.

I like your idea about making the highest hand pay a penalty when everyone folds, but I think I would rather see them only add an additional ante instead of matching the whole pot.

Thanks to “sydney” for the variation.

This Weeks Game of the Week

Stud Poker

PLAYERS: 3 to 10

PLAY: 1 card is dealt face down and another is dealt face up to each player (5 card).

In the 7 card version its 2 cards down and 1 up. After the dealing the betting begins. After each round of betting, each player is dealt one card face up except for the last card, which is dealt face down.

After the last card is dealt a showdown ensues.

WINNER: The high/low hand splits the pot.
