Triple draw is an interesting card game consists of two distinct variants i.e. ‘ace-5’ and ‘deuce-7’ games. Both the games are the draw games; it means the replacement of cards can be possible in such games at various points.
Format of Triple Draw:
- Like Texas holdem poker, there is a dealer button in the game and the blinds are posted by the two players seated on the left side of the dealer’s button.
- Every player in the game has to deal with the hand of 5 cards and has the opportunity for calling, raising or folding.
- After the completion of first betting round, every player has the opportunity for drawing or replacing any amount of poker cards. If the players wish to retain all of their playing cards, it would be regarded as a situation of ‘standing pat’.
- When the players have discarded their cards, their discarded cards are replaced by the new ones by the dealer.
- When the draw gets completed, then there followed again another round of betting repeating the procedure. Total 3 draws followed in the game.
- The final betting round follows after the final round of draw. The player having the lowest hand of five cards becomes the winner.
Ace to Five Triple Draw:
Ace-5 triple draw poker is the least popular variant of all the poker games. The betting structure of the game is similar to the structure followed in deuce-7 triple draw. The hand rankings are the only difference in both the games. In this game, flushes and straights are not counted against a player along with the lower card counting for an ace. Therefore, 2, 3, 4, 5, and A is the best possible poker hand in this game. Then 2, 3, 4, 6, A and 2, 3, 5, 6, A will be the following poker hands and so on.
Ace-5 triple draw game is played just like the game deuce-7 triple draw with an anticipation of different hand ranking. In this game the lowest possible hand is termed as the best poker hand as in deuce-7 game. Apart from all the best possible hands, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, is the worst possible poker hand of 6-low and actually this is the straight which would not be counted against the player.
Excluding the hand ranking, the ace-5 triple draw ensures an identical game play to deuce-7. So, one should understand the rules of the game perfectly regarding the working of betting and drawing in the game.
