There are several sub-variations of stud poker. Before you learn how to play stud poker you must know that the basics are same except for some variations in the sequences in which the cards are dealt based on the number of face up and face down. Mostly high rank bets; however, it may vary depending on casino or site specifics. Here is a general outline.

Commonest stud pokers are:-
• Five card
• Six card
• Seven card

How to play stud poker of five cards? (2 face down, 3 face up)
• Ante.
• The betting can be limit, no-limit, pot-limit, fixed limit or spread limit.
• Dealing of first card face down and second card face up (2 cards)
• Bring in by low rank. Suit ranks is used to break ties.
• Burn
• Third card face up - bet by high card.
• Fourth card face up - bet by high card.
• Fifth card face down.
• Showdown follows and best hand wins or varies depending on game type.

How to play stud poker of six cards? (3 face down, 3 face up)
