Stud poker is one of the poker variants in which each player gets a combination of face-down and face-up cards dealt in multiple betting rounds. In seven-card stud, each player at the end of the game has three cards face-down that nobody can see, and four cards face-up that the whole table to see. In five-card stud, each player has one card face-down and four cards face-up at the end of the game.
Stud games are non-positional games, i.e., the player who bets first on each round may change from round to round. It is normally the player whose face-up cards make the best hand for the game being played. The cards dealt face down to each player, are known as hole cards. All activity takes place in a clockwise direction. Players have to place a small beginning bet called the ante.
The person who gets the smallest card starts the betting and the first round of laying bets begins. Players obtain their second card that is proof to all others and another round of betting takes place. In the third round players obtain their third show card and they lay a wager for the third time. Players get the final show card and the last round of betting takes place. To finish, players show all their cards and the person with the best hand of highest value gets the prize.
Since there are going to be a mix of open and closed cards, it is essential for the player to make use of the open information to identify the information about the hidden cards based on betting patterns. A bit of math will make this game easy.
