Stud poker strategy

  1. There are hundreds of strategy considerations in stud poker. Some of the stud-poker strategies are mentioned below:
When players pick up their cards, watch them. They will often keep a card if they have a flush, straight or a pair, after they have been dealt their final down card.
  2. If a hand is multi-way on the pool and someone rises, it is a near firmness that they are not pretending.
  3. Someone who is about to leave will seldom play misleadingly or entitle a bet or rise unless he has a genuine hand.
  4. Many players incline to shuffle their final down card before looking at it. They often expose a card or two during this shuffle. Study who does it and observe for it.
  5. Apparently mysterious aggression is often the most persuasive bluff. You can get a good player to discharge his premium pair if you raise him when a low card strikes you.
  6. Bad position is often a good situation for a raise.
  7. Players who have just won a big shoot are good points of a semi-bluff, if they are still loading their chips.
  8. Few players start wagering just because they are the high hand showing. You can beat them off their hand by rising.
  9. Rarely pretending like you are weak, by pausing or other apparent moves and then betting will induce strong players to fold.
  10. In a tournament, the first hand of a new level is often the best time to bluff.
