Over the coming weeks I will be compiling a long series of articles for limit hold’em ring games. These will focus firstly on full ring games and then six max ring games. In my opinion these articles will simply be a ‘must read’ for anyone who not only plays these forms of poker but who also play these games on Pacific Poker.
For those of you who are unaware, limit hold’em was my ‘bread and butter’ game for several years online before I switched to SnGs and then no limit hold’em. Your first goal in a tournament should be to accumulate enough chips to get you deep in a tournament. There are numerous approaches to chip accumulation and the style you employ will depend on your personal playing traits and how your table is playing. Let’s look at three common chip accumulation approaches:
1 – The passive, limp in and see a lot of flops approach – with this approach your objective is to limp in and see as many cheap flops as you possibly can, including calling small raises with a wide range of hands. Your reasoning for doing this is to take advantage of your opponent’s post-flop mistakes. more

This article is going to limit discussion to typical backing deals and not go into the more complex ones that can take place. Typically, a person will provide the tournament buy in for a player in return for a set percentage of the winnings (usually 50%) after the entry fee has been returned.
So for example, if you decided to back your buddy into the World Series of Poker and he won five million, he would return the entry fee and you would get half of the profit. Sweet! You’re an instant millionaire! However, if your buddy finished out of the money, you would get nothing in return. You’d be out the whole ten thousand. Not such a good deal there. more

Without a doubt the most common time a player is stealing is when they are first to act from late middle position, cutoff, button, or small blind and raise in an attempt to pick up the blinds and antes.
Thus it is only appropriate that the best time to attempt a resteal is when someone has done just that.
However, just because someone has raised first to act doesn’t mean they are stealing, nor does it mean that a resteal is appropriate.
