Micro-stakes/low-stakes limit hold’em ring games

Over the coming weeks I will be compiling a long series of articles for limit hold’em ring games. These will focus firstly on full ring games and then six max ring games. In my opinion these articles will simply be a ‘must read’ for anyone who not only plays these forms of poker but who also play these games on Pacific Poker.

For those of you who are unaware, limit hold’em was my ‘bread and butter’ game for several years online before I switched to SnGs and then no limit hold’em. These articles will be designed by me to educate players who are new to limit hold’em and will guide you into a level of proficiency in a very short time frame.

There are many advantages with getting instruction in word form as it can be re-read at leisure at your own pace. At the micro-stakes levels and low-stakes games then I will be concentrating on good solid play pre-flop and post-flop and I will leave out information on tracker data. These articles will be geared for players who play at levels up to and including $2-$4.

A few years ago the $3-$6 level certainly could not be considered middle limit and it probably still can’t. But the number of proficient players at this level has grown significantly over the past couple of years so I will class this level as the lower middle limits although there is certainly room for individual opinion here.

I am going to teach players hand rankings that will propel their pre-flop play into being extremely solid and which will eliminate leaks quickly. I will also be underlining the importance of position in full ring games and other vital limit hold’em concepts too. If you thought that limit hold’em was a game where bluffing was impossible then you may be amazed at how much bluffing is possible at this form of poker if you search for the opportunities.

So do keep an eye open for that in the coming weeks and months. I will also teach you one of the most critical skills in poker not just at the low-stakes and micro-stakes levels but at any level, and that is how to read your opponent’s hand and how the action dictates their possible hand range.

At all times I will assume that you already have a certain level of knowledge about limit hold’em and you are aware of how to play poker and what the basics are. So I will be entering at a level slightly higher than total beginner. So if there are areas of your game that need working on like understanding hand rankings and basic beginner concepts then be sure to go and take care of that first before you read on. One of the best ways to do that is by trying out our free money games.

These articles will form what I intend to be a ‘small-stakes limit hold’em fast track course’. I will then slowly expand on this over the coming months in what will be an up-to-date poker school which will take into consideration the ever-expanding and changing face of online poker.
