Omaha Tourney & Death at the Casino

Had my first tournament at Omaha hi/lo earlier tonight. 60 players turned out and I was sitting nicely until half way. Got involved in a big hand. The other guy went all -in just before the river card. I had the best possible hand at the time so I called it.I don’t usually get too involved so early in the game but I had him but he lucked out on the river card & took almost all my chips. I was down to about $400, the leader was at $20,000 and I wasn’t feeling too confident. The big blind was at $800. I played on & won a few hands & got back into the game.

Was sitting pretty nicely when I got to the final table. To cut a long story short. Finished 4th after a three way call in, my luck Finally running out. Well I got a $120 profit & it was still early enough to meet my friends at the roulette tables.

We always have a good laugh at the casino as everyone knows each other well. Andy, one of the regulars was there, sweating profusely. He didn’t look well at all. Apparently he had just lost $850 while I was away playing my tourney. He suddenly grasped his chest & just dropped down dead. Everyone is in shock.

We decide to play on for the last hour in his honor & the one who loses the most has the grave task of telling his wife. Well thankfully Big Jeff lost & it was down to him.

It was the first time he has done anything like this so we brief him up, tell him to be really discrete & gentle, soften the blow to Andy’s poor wife. “Lads, don’t worry,” he says “I’m as discrete as they come. So we send him on his way to Andy’s house. The wife answers the door and asks Big Jeff what he wants.

He says, “I dont know how to break this to you but Andy just lost $850.”

The wife is raging. “Go tell Andy to drop dead.” Se screams.

Big Jeff consoles her and calms her down then says “OK, I’ll tell him

(OK, the long winded casino story wasnt true but 4th from 60 in my 1st omaha tourney of the year was….Yeah)
