The WSOP schedule officially set marks the start of the event on May 31, 2011 through July 19, 2011.
The event has been programmed with total of 58 events. This is more number of events when compared to last year, meaning it was 57 the past year and it is one more event this year. The added event for this year is the $25,000 Heads up instead of the holdem game short handed past year.
Satellite events leading to the main event are offered in several online casino sites for the benefit of skilled players who can make their way to the WSOP by winning a seat in the satellite. more

There will be a clear-cut competition between Stoxpoker’s two representatives against Polaris. Stoxpoker is an online poker training site and the Polaris is a series of computer programs developed at the Alberta University for playing poker games.
The match will commence from 4 to 6 July during an expo of Gaming Life in the hotel and casino, the Rio in Las Vegas.

Perhaps the most famous backing deal that ever took place was when Billy Baxter put Stu Ungar into the 1997 World Series of Poker main event and Ungar went on to win his third bracelet. What’s not widely known is that in 1990 Baxter had backed Ungar who was found unconscious in his hotel room during day 3 from a drug overdose.
Ungar had so many chips at the time that he still managed a 9th place finish in the event. One can only imagine the doubt that Baxter had in ‘97 when Ungar asked for help and Baxter told Ungar at first no. Finally, with just minutes left before the main event was starting, Baxter gave in to Ungar’s pleas and put him into the event.
Ungar was still battling his demons and struggled at times to make it through a day of play, but in the end he was the victor and Baxter was half a million dollars richer because of his gamble on a gamble. more

If you are a poker player, you might have already heard about the WSOP right? If not, WSOP means World Series of Poker. It is an extravaganza of poker, usually held in the United States and some in Europe. Also, it is a spectacle where the greatest and most popular pokers play. WSOP first started back in 1970 where its rights were still with Horseshoe casino and then in 2004, its rights were sold off. Harrah’s casino then bought the rights to WSOP and this 2008 will be Harrah’s casino’s 4th annual WSOP tournament. more

A lot of people are very much interested to play in the WSOP or the World Series of Poker. But unfortunately, most of us do not have the luxury of spending ten thousands dollars to play that game. Unlike in other poker tournaments and competitions, you really don’t have to qualify in World Series of Poker by winning qualifications, points or by ranking. You really don’t have to be a pro poker player or a good player to be able to join. You can just simply withdraw from your bank account ten thousand dollars and buy yourself a seat in WSOP. One example in buying a seat in WSOP is 2005 WSOP winner Joseph Hachem when he entered in the said event. more

The G2E Global Gaming Expo has become the preeminent showcase for the gaming industry, and for this year’s show, the World Series of Poker decided to come along for the ride.
Harrah’s decided to grab 750 square feet of convention floor space for this year’s Expo, and hosted what wound up being one of the booths at the show that attracted the most attention. Why, you ask? Poker.
The WSOP had some big time professional poker players come in, and play some poker (no money allowed!) with conventioneers, and help raise awareness of the WSOP brand. more
